University of Portland RFP
2005-2006 Mini-Grant Application

Mini-grants (up to $250) are awarded on a competitive basis to student teachers and first-year teachers affiliated with the six institutions comprising the Oregon Technology in Education Network (OTEN): George Fox, Pacific, Concordia, Willamette, Corban (formerly Western Baptist) College and University of Portland. The express purpose of these mini-grants is to support the thoughtful infusion of technology into K-12 curriculum and instruction. Successful applicants will provide more, rather than less, detail about the specific project for which they are seeking financial support. In addition to implementing and assessing the success of their particular projects, awardees commit themselves to sharing their project and results at the Student Teacher Showcase Conference on April 8, 2006. To complete the application process, go to the Mini-Grant Application at the OTEN WebSite.

You will be asked for information about yourself and a description of your project. The description will include an outline of the specific technology being requested and how it will be used in instruction, what your learning goals are for the project, the benefits that occur because the technology will be used, and a complete description of how you will assess learning within the project. An itemized budget will also need to be included.

Please note that although the deadline for applications is a rolling one, the pool of funds is finite. Early proposals, i.e. prior to November 1, are encouraged. Applicants may apply in fall for a project they plan to complete in the spring.

You may contact Dr. Karen Eifler (Franz 441— eifler@up.edu; 503-943-8014) for further information at any point in the application process. Notification of awards will be made to applicants starting August 15, 2005.
